Diamond Certification Guide: GIA & IGI Explained

Diamond Certification Guide

Every Lara Jewels diamond comes with a certificate from either the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or the International Gemological Institute (IGI) — the two most trusted grading laboratories in the world.

What is a Diamond Certificate?

A diamond certificate (also called a grading report) is an independent, unbiased assessment of your diamond's quality. It documents the 4Cs — Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat — along with measurements, proportions, and any additional characteristics.

GIA (Gemological Institute of America)

GIA is widely considered the gold standard in diamond grading. Founded in 1931, GIA created the 4Cs grading system used worldwide. A GIA certificate is recognized and respected by jewelers and buyers globally.

IGI (International Gemological Institute)

IGI is the world's largest independent gemological laboratory and is the leading certifier of lab grown diamonds. IGI certificates are widely accepted and trusted, particularly for lab grown stones.

Why It Matters

Buying a certified diamond means you know exactly what you're getting. There are no surprises — the certificate is your guarantee of quality and authenticity.
